Choice of technology
Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) technology is generally more efficient when compared to traditional Conventional Activated Sludge (CAS), Trickling Filters or Pond Systems and provides advantages in terms of plant size, efficiency, effluent quality and costs. The ModMBR incorporates this efficient technology in a compact, modular unit that is easy to transport, install and operate.
The ModMBR has been designed based on decades of experience within the effluent management sector and sets new standards in durability, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
Why Choose ModMBR?
- World-first Innovation: The original modular Membrane Bio Reactor system.
- Rugged & Reliable: Built to withstand demanding environments with minimal maintenance.
- High Performance: Treats municipal wastewater with COD levels up to 850mg/L.
- Scalable Design: Each module processes 10kL/day — easily scalable up to 200kL/day per battery.
- Energy Efficient: Consumes just 2.5kWh per kilolitre of treated effluent.
- Regulatory Compliant: Achieves stringent discharge standards for environmental safety.
- Compact Footprint: Measures just 1.2m × 1.2m × 3.5m and weighs 400kg — ideal for space-limited sites.
- Semi-Automated: PLC-controlled system for reliable, user-friendly operation.
How It Works
- Raw Inflow: Wastewater enters the system.
- Aerobic Cycle: Oxygen supports bacteria that break down organic material into carbon dioxide and minerals.
- Anoxic Cycle: In oxygen-depleted conditions, bacteria convert nitrates into harmless nitrogen gas.
- Membrane Filtration: Advanced membranes separate clean water from solids, achieving 99.99% bacteria removal (<0.1μm filtration).
- By-Products: Only nitrogen gas (N₂), carbon dioxide (CO₂), purified water, and a small amount of stable, compostable aerobic sludge remain.
